PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This three-day course has been specifically designed for general surgeons who would like to become proficient in ultrasound scanning.

  • Practical Physics of Ultrasound
  • Artifacts
  • Basic Knobology
  • Necessary Equipment Criteria
  • Probe Manipulation Techniques
  • Scanning protocols in:
    • Abdomen
    • AbdominalTrauma (EFAST)
    • Abdominal Vasculature
    • Gall bladder
    • Renal tract
    • Pelvis

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide an overview of the physical principles and artifacts associated with ultrasound in surgical practice
  2. To provide the scanning skills required to maximise diagnostic ability
  3. To provide an understanding of the protocols required to answer common clinical questions
