Introduction to Ultrasound in Renal Dialysis

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This two day course has been specifically designed for renal dialysis nurses who would like to become proficient in all the basic concepts of ultrasound scanning. Intensive hands-on practical sessions allow registrants to gain basic competencies in the most cost effective manner. Very limited registrant numbers for each program allows highly personalised tuition.

SPECIFIC TOPICS INCLUDE

  • Basic Doppler physics, "knobology" and artifacts
  • Haemodynamics & Spectral Analysis
  • Probe manipulation techniques
  • Scanning protocols in dialysis grafts
  • Needle guidance techniques
  • Designing protocols to suit your department

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide an overview of the basic physical principles & artifacts associated with peripheral veins
  2. To provide the scanning skills required in maximising accuracy
  3. To provide an understanding of protocols required in renal dialysis scanning
