Obstetric ultrasound requires the operator to undertake meticulous investigations using a blend of practical skills, theoretical knowledge and normal pattern recognition along with attention to detail in ultrasonic measurement techniques of the correct planes for gestational age assessment and well being.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This five-day course has been specifically designed to instill effective scanning methodology and to teach rigorous protocols in all three trimesters of pregnancy. Gynaecological applications are covered from both transabdominal and transvaginal approaches. A mixture of theoretical and intensive practical tuition with low student/tutor ratios permits maximum skills acquisition.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

All tuition is undertaken in a highly personalised fashion with intensive "hands-on" practical sessions allowing registrants to gain basic competencies in the most cost-effective manner

• To provide an overview of ultrsound in O&G
• To provide an overview of the physical principles and artifacts associated with obstetric ultrasound
• To provide skills requied in maximising diagnostic ability
• To provide an understanding of ultrasonic protocols required in all 3 trimesters of obstetrics
• To provide basic skills in fetal biometry
• To provide an understanding and basic practical knowledge of transvaginal scanning techniques
• To provide an understanding and basic knowledge of pattern recognition in the female pelvis

Our wide range of lecturers and tutors have been recruited from amongst the best in the field around Australia not only for their expertise in ultrasound but also for their ability to teach.
