PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This five-day course has been specifically designed for Emergency Medicine Specialists who would like to become proficient in all the basic concepts of ultrasound scanning at the bedside.

SPECIFIC TOPICS INCLUDE

• Basic practical physics, "knobology" and artifacts
• Probe manipulation techniques
• Scanning protocols in:

  • basic cardiac
  • first trimester obstetric clinical questions
• Ultrasound Needle Guidance Techniques
• Necessary equipment criteria
• Designing protocols to suit your department

• To provide scanning skills required in maximising diagnostic ability
• To provide an understanding of the protocols required in answering common clinical questions
