Pregnant Volunteer

Volunteer for a Pregnancy Ultrasound

Are you currently 8–13 weeks or 24+ weeks pregnant?
Join us for a supervised scanning session and help doctors learn how to safely perform pregnancy ultrasound. These appointments are free, friendly, and held at our Gold Coast centre.

  • See your baby during the session — just for fun
  • Support doctors in their hands-on training
  • No cost and no referral needed
  • Receive a complimentary bounty bag

Please note: These scans are for training purposes only — they are not medical check-ups and don’t replace your regular pregnancy care. You’ll still need to attend your usual appointments with your GP or obstetrician.

…It was quite a privilege to be able to help out. The AIU staff were all so friendly and appreciative, as were the doctors who scanned me. It was a really lovely experience and I got to see my beautiful bubba!

What to expect

  • Sessions run for approximately 1 hour.
  • You’ll be scanned by 1–4 supervised doctors.
  • All sessions are guided by experienced clinicians and sonographers.
  • No medical reports or images are provided.
  • Appointments take place at our Gold Coast training centre.
  • Free on-site parking is available.
  • Enjoy a tea, coffee and biscuit while you wait.
  • Ultrasound is completely safe — it uses sound waves, not radiation.
  • 3D and 4D scans are not included.

Who can take part?

We welcome women who are:

  • 8–13 weeks or 24+ weeks pregnant.
  • Receiving routine antenatal care with a GP, midwife, or obstetrician.

This session is not a substitute for a medical scan, so you’ll still need to attend your regular check-ups.
