Run over three days, this emergency point of care ultrasound course will re-ignite your confidence in clinical ultrasound. With 14 hours of hands-on practical tuition on real patient models of varying degrees of difficulty, this course will improve your understanding and use of ultrasound to answer clinical questions and acquire better images.

This course has been specifically designed to address the needs of practitioners who have previous ultrasound experience, but feel the need for review.

The objective of this emergency point of care ultrasound course is to improve your exisiting scanning and problem solving skills, in order to make sound clinical decisions. 


The prior ultrasound experience assumed for this course is highlighted below.

None/Minimal Don’t use ultrasound
Limited Use ultrasound weekly/monthly
Moderate/Experienced Use ultrasound daily/weekly

This course is suitable for clinicians who have previously completed a basic course (even if it was years ago), and have had reasonable levels of hands-on experience. It is NOT suitable for those with NO previous training.



CCPU units included in the course:

  • Extended Focused Abdominal Scan for Trauma (eFAST)
  • Basic Early Pregnancy

Approved for Educational Activities 22.75 hours.


This course is approved for 21 total activity hours. PDP units: 15 Educational Activity. Grant eligibility: Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Obstetrics, Surgery.


CPD Approved Activity under RACGP 2023-25 CPD program. Approved for Educational Activities 3.5 hours, Reviewing Performance 17 hours, specific requirements diagnostic radiology, 3 days Anaesthetics, Obstetrics, Surgery and Emergency Medicine training grants. Provider Number 214288, Activity ID 439459.


Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD program may claim this this course under the Knowledge and Skills activity short format learning at 2 credits per hour.
