Course Dates
Description
This two-day MSK ultrasound course focuses on evidence-based training in musculoskeletal ultrasound of the lower limb, covering the hip, hamstring, knee, ankle, and foot.
This course provides protocol-driven training, blending sonographer-led image optimisation with clinician-led clinical integration:
- Sonographer-led training – Techniques to optimise image quality, reduce artefacts, and enhance diagnostic accuracy.
- Clinician-led sessions – Apply evidence-based ultrasound interpretation into clinical decision-making.
With hands-on scanning using real patient models, you’ll develop confidence in lower limb MSK ultrasound—whether you’re in a clinic, hospital, or field setting.
What you’ll learn
- Develop essential MSK ultrasound skills for hip, hamstring, knee, ankle, and foot assessments.
- Recognise normal and pathological anatomy of the lower limb.
- Optimise imaging techniques to reduce artefacts and improve diagnostic accuracy.
- Refine positioning techniques for static and dynamic scanning.
- Interpret clinical relevance to guide treatment pathways and procedural applications.
Real-world applications
- Improve assessment of lower limb injuries and conditions in sports medicine, orthopaedics, and rehabilitation.
- Use ultrasound to guide procedures, such as injections and therapeutic interventions.
- Understand how MSK ultrasound contributes to an evidence-based approach in musculoskeletal assessment.
Who should attend?
- Sport and Exercise Physician
- Rheumatologist
- Orthopaedic Surgeon
- General Practitioner
- Emergency Medicine Physician
- Rehabilitation Physician
- Physiotherapists

Objectives
By the end of this MSK ultrasound course, you will be able to:
- Perform structured MSK ultrasound assessments – Develop hands-on scanning skills to identify both normal and pathological sono-anatomy of the hip, hamstring, knee, ankle, and foot.
- Evaluate ultrasound images with confidence – Recognise key MSK structures, including bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, bursae, and muscles.
- Optimise image quality – Identify and reduce ultrasound artefacts (e.g., anisotropy) to improve scan accuracy.
- Develop positioning techniques – Perform static and dynamic assessments of the lower limb.
- Ensure safe and effective scanning – Follow hygiene protocols and recognise potential pitfalls in MSK ultrasound.
- Integrate ultrasound findings into clinical practice – Interpret the clinical relevance of pathology and apply insights to patient management decisions.
