MSK Ultrasound Guided Injection Course
ACEM, ACRRM, RACGP, AOA
Course highlights
- Upper limb ultrasound
- Lower limb ultrasound
- Cadaver Practical Session
Course Dates
Description
This MSK guided injection course is aimed at doctors with a background in Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, Pain Management, Rheumatology, Orthopaedics, General Practice, as well as Allied Health Professionals who are seeking to understand and integrate ultrasound guided injections into the diagnosis and management of common upper and lower limb pathologies.
Injection therapy is an important adjunct in diagnosis and management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions. An ultrasound guided injection provides more accuracy and therefore more efficacy and cost-effectiveness compared to landmark-guided injections.
The course combines didactic presentations, demonstrations by experts, practical scanning on real patient models, injection techniques on phantoms, plus a half-day cadaver practical session which will allow you to explore and develop your injection skills on specimens whilst discussing some of the practical challenges to these techniques.
Planning for 2026?
2026 dates for our MSK injection course will be released in October. Stay tuned!

Objectives
By the end of this msk ultrasound injection course, participants will be able to:
- Recognise normal musculoskeletal sonoanatomy of the upper and lower limbs relevant to ultrasound-guided injections (shoulder, elbow, hand/wrist, hip, knee, ankle/foot), including bone, joint, tendon, ligament, bursa, muscle, nerve, and vessels (arteries and veins).
- Perform ultrasound-guided injections for peripheral joints, tendons, and bursae for common MSK presentations.
- Explain the theory and principles of ultrasound needle guidance (approaches, alignment, depth, visualisation).
- Apply safe practice and hygiene standards, and identify potential pitfalls in MSK ultrasound-guided injection techniques.
- Recognise ultrasound artefacts and other limitations (e.g., positioning), and use optimisation strategies to overcome them.
