Description

Once you’ve mastered the basics, this two-day intermediate rural medicine course will build on your skills to provide you with the practical skills and technical know-how to perform ultrasound guided nerve blocks, fluid localisations and foreign body removal which are core to the Rural Generalist arsenal.

Informed use of point of care ultrasound in rural medicine can assist clinicians to risk stratify clinical decision making in the challenging contexts presented in rural settings.

Answer clinical questions at the bedside or roadside with nothing more than a handheld ultrasound, such as:

  • Does my patient with abdominal pain have cholecystitis?
  • Could this be an ectopic pregnancy?

Take these tools home, practise in your own environment, then work with us toward credentialing in those protocols that will have the highest yield in your practice.
